April Campaign Partner Toolkit

What Different Can Do is an awareness campaign aimed at addressing the rising anxiety levels among our children today by fostering a culture of inclusivity and character-building.

In addition to the detrimental impact being sidelined, marginalized, isolated, or bullied has on a child’s self-esteem, confidence, and mental health, kids are often on small screens and bombarded with stimuli that can contribute to anxiety and depression. At Camp Southern Ground, we’ve made it our mission to provide a space that is completely digital-free, allowing children to unplug and reconnect with nature and one another.

By bringing children from diverse backgrounds together in an inclusive environment, we create opportunities for them to learn from one another, appreciate different perspectives, and ultimately, understand that it’s our differences that make us stronger together.

Thank you for joining Camp Southern Ground for this engaging campaign. With your help, more than 700 children will benefit from the changing experience of summer camp.

  • Rates of depression and anxiety among American adolescents increased by more than 50% in multiple studies between 2010 and 2019.
  • According to the CDC, the suicide rate for kids between 10 and 14 tripled between 2007 and 2021, and the number of high school girls who reported seriously considered attempting suicide jumped from 19% in 2011 to 30% in 2021.
  • Camp Southern Ground celebrates differences, fostering a culture of inclusivity and character-building.
  • Camp Southern Ground provides a space that is completely digital-free, allowing children to unplug and reconnect not only with nature but also one another.
  • Our programs focus on life skill building that helps to nurture resilience, empathy, and leadership qualities, empowering our children to navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence and compassion.
  • “Sometimes kids just need a glimmer of hope. Camp is that healthy environment that opens you up and changes you in a powerful way. It levels the playing field and helps kids know they are capable of bigger things.” — Zac Brown, founder of Camp Southern Ground
  • “My dream is that children of all abilities will have an opportunity to grow and learn from each other.” — Zac Brown, founder of Camp Southern Ground
