Fueling Wellness with The Remedy Kitchen

Mar 1 | What Different Can Do

As winter fades and the world bursts into color, March symbolizes a time of growth, renewal, and resilience. At Camp Southern Ground, we embrace this season by nourishing both body and mind—and one of the best ways to do that is through food. The Remedy Kitchen, our nutrition-focused initiative, helps fuel wellness by sharing meals, celebrating gratitude, and focusing on farm-fresh recipes that support overall well-being.

The Power of Nutrition at Camp Southern Ground

What we put into our bodies matters. That’s why Camp Southern Ground’s 11-acre USDA Certified Organic farm plays a vital role in our mission. We grow a variety of fresh, seasonal produce—including tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, beans, squash, and berries—ensuring that our veterans and summer campers receive three chef-prepared, gluten-free, allergen-free, and anti-inflammatory meals each day.

But The Remedy Kitchen is about more than just the meals—it’s about the experience. Summer campers don’t just eat nutritious food; they connect with it. They spend time on the farm, learning where their food comes from, and take part in hands-on cooking classes, preparing meals using farm-fresh ingredients. This not only builds an appreciation for healthy eating but also deepens their understanding of the environmental impact of organic farming and food transportation.

The Remedy Report: Your Guide to Wellness

To continue supporting wellness beyond camp, The Remedy Kitchen regularly puts out The Remedy Report, a resource filled with recipes, insights, and practical tips for balanced living.

This March/April issue focuses on the theme Onward!—emphasizing the importance of taking small steps toward personal growth and resilience. Whether it’s setting new wellness goals, forming sustainable habits, or making mindful adjustments to your diet, every step forward contributes to long-term well-being.

Spring is the perfect time to refresh routines and refocus on wellness. That’s why this issue of The Remedy Report includes simple, actionable ways to nourish your body and mind:

✅ Eat more whole, fresh foods – Incorporate seasonal fruits and vegetables into your meals.
✅ Be mindful of ingredients – Choose foods that nourish your body rather than processed alternatives.
✅ Learn where your food comes from – Supporting local and organic farmers benefits both your health and the environment.

Spring Forward with Healthy Habits

As we step into this season of renewal, let’s embrace growth and resilience—one mindful choice at a time. Whether it’s trying a new recipe, making a small shift in your diet, or simply being more intentional about what fuels your body, every action counts.
