Zac Brown’s Vision Comes to Life at Camp Southern Ground

Jun 20, 2025

Founders Day Celebration and Day of Giving Set for June 22

What started as Grammy Award-winning artist Zac Brown’s vision is now a thriving community that has served thousands of children and veterans. This Sunday, June 22, Camp Southern Ground celebrates its Founders Day, marking 13 years since Zac set out to create a place where kids thrive, and veterans find purpose and connection after military service.

Based on his own experience growing up as a camper and then counselor, Zac believes summer camp has the power to transform a child’s life. Zac also has a strong devotion to country, and believes it is our obligation to honor and serve the veterans who have protected our freedom and keep this country safe.

During summer months, Camp Southern Ground is an inclusive, residential camp serving kids of different backgrounds and abilities. For the remainder of the year, Camp Southern Ground is dedicated to serving veterans with three veteran programs. These Warrior programs, provided at no cost to participants, help veterans and their families find community, direction, purpose, and support in life after military service.

This Founders Day, Camp Southern Ground is inviting supporters to join in a Day of Giving to celebrate how far the mission has come and help ensure it thrives for the next 100 years. Supporters can participate in several impactful ways:

✔️ Secure a Brick: Leave your name or honor someone special on the paths that wind through camp.
✔️ Buy a Bench: create a space for rest, reflection, and conversation.
✔️ Donate $13: (or any amount!) every dollar fuels the mission and touches lives.

As Camp Southern Ground continues to grow, its purpose remains rooted in connection, compassion, and community. Join us this Sunday and be part of that legacy.
