Peachtree City Rotary Builds Sensory Path for Camp Southern Ground Campers

Oct 27, 2025

This weekend at Warrior Family Camp, we officially christened our brand-new Sensory Nature Path with a morning hike – and it was an instant hit! Campers and families loved exploring the varied sections, bounding from rock to rock and stump to stump, exactly as planned and designed.

This special new addition was funded by a grant from the Rotary Club of Peachtree City and installed by its members this past weekend. Their generosity and hands-on effort made it possible for us to bring this meaningful project to life. Designed especially with our neurodiverse campers in mind, the sensory path provides soothing input through touch, sight, and sound – using natural textures, visual elements, and organic sounds to promote regulation, reduce anxiety, and help everyone stay connected and engaged with their peers throughout the day.

We’re thrilled to share that Phase 2 of the Sensory Nature Trail has also been funded by the Peachtree City Rotary and will expand the sensory experience even further. This next phase will include a trellis, a garden with lavender and rosemary to engage the sense of smell, a bridge and swings for movement, and wind chimes to complete the sensory input experience.

Whether it’s a quiet moment of reflection, a few minutes spent exploring textures and colors, or simply walking along the trail, this space offers campers an inclusive environment where every child feels safe, supported, and free to be themselves.

We’re so grateful to our friends at the Rotary Club of Peachtree City for their ongoing partnership and commitment to helping us make Camp Southern Ground a place where every camper can truly thrive.
