Warriors of Camp Southern Ground

BLAKE MALLORY

Blake is an original Warrior Week participant and leader. He grew up in east Texas and joined the Marines at 18. This is his story.

“The two most important days in anyone’s life is the day that you are born and the day that you find out why.” – Mark Twain

I served for eight years, from 2003-2011. In 2004, I was honored to be one of the Marines selected for the 21-gun battery salute for President Ronald Reagan’s funeral.

[Transitioning out of the military] was a real challenge. It was hard to find structure, connection, and purpose after serving, but now I feel I am doing better than I deserve. Education, connection, and support really helped me in all areas of life, and I have found my calling to serve again. I built my own mental health private practice to help keep those that run towards the fight in the fight. I have also learned if I’m not at my best, I can’t give my best.
