Here are some fun and easy Valentine’s Day craft ideas to do with your kids!

  1. Love Bug Finger Puppets

    Materials: Chenille stems or pipe cleaners, googly eyes, tacky glue, pom poms, muffin cups or construction paper, scissors

    How to Make:

    • Cut out a heart shape for each child’s bug, this will be the wings for the bug. The chenille stem is both the antenna and the body.
    • Starting from the middle of the chenille stem, twist the two ends around the child’s finger. When you have about one inch of stem left on each side, twist the two ends around each other to secure.
    • Bend the leftover ends over to look like antenna. Glue two pom poms to each antenna end. Glue two googly eyes to the front of the bug’s face. Glue the heart shape to the back of the bug.
    • Pop the love bug off the child’s finger and set it aside to dry!
  2. “I Love You to Pieces” Collage

    Materials: Cardstock, tissue paper or construction paper pieces, glue, markers

    How to Make:

    • Cut out a large heart on cardstock.
    • Write “I Love You to Pieces” in the center.
    • Have kids tear or cut colored paper into small pieces and glue them inside the heart.
  3. Handprint Heart Tree

    Materials: Construction paper, paint, glue

    How to Make:

    • Trace and cut out your child’s hand on brown paper for the tree trunk.
    • Cut out small hearts in different colors for leaves.
    • Glue the hearts around the fingertips to form a tree.
  4. Heart Balloon Bouquet

    Materials: Paper straws, cardstock, glue, markers

    How to Make:

    • Cut out heart shapes from colored paper.
    • Attach them to the top of paper straws to create “balloons.”
    • Tie them together with ribbon and write a sweet message on each heart.
  5. Valentine’s Day Coupon Book

    Materials: Construction paper, markers, ribbon or stapler

    How to Make:

    • Cut small rectangles of paper and write fun coupons like “One Extra Story at Bedtime” or “Movie Night with Popcorn.”
    • Stack them and staple or tie them with ribbon to make a little book.

  6. Secret Message Valentine

    Materials: White crayon, watercolor paint, white paper

    How to Make:

    • Write a Valentine’s message with a white crayon on paper.
    • Have your child paint over it with watercolors to reveal the hidden message!
  7. Heart-Shaped Puzzle Craft

    Materials: Old puzzle pieces, glue, paint, paper

    How to Make:

     

    • Paint old puzzle pieces red, pink, and white.
    • Glue them in a heart shape on cardstock and write “You Complete Me!”
  8. Valentine’s Day Suncatchers

    Materials: Contact paper, tissue paper, scissors, ribbon

    How to Make:

    • Cut out a heart shape in a piece of contact paper.
    • Let your child stick small tissue paper pieces onto it.
    • Seal it with another layer of contact paper and hang it in a window.
  9. Love Bug Clothespins

    Materials: Wooden clothespins, pipe cleaners, paint, googly eyes

    How to Make:

    • Paint clothespins red or pink.
    • Attach googly eyes to the top and pipe cleaner antennae.
    • Cut out small paper hearts and glue them as wings.
  10. Valentine’s Day Wreath

    Materials: Paper plate, tissue paper, glue, ribbon

    How to Make:

    • Cut out the center of a paper plate to make a wreath shape.
    • Glue tissue paper pieces or small paper hearts around it.
    • Attach a ribbon to hang it up!
