Jason Trotter

Jason has been a vital part of Camp Southern Ground since 2015, serving as the Director of Safety, Health, and Security since 2021. With a diverse and multidisciplinary background, he oversees campus security systems, emergency preparedness, and overall site safety, ensuring a secure and well-maintained environment for all.

Jason brings nearly 30 years of expertise in landscape architecture, facility management, risk mitigation, and construction supervision. His early career honed his skills in project planning and operational oversight, which he now applies to managing campus-wide safety initiatives, managing IT infrastructure, and assisting with special construction projects that enhance the camp’s facilities. Additionally, as a Certified Pool Operator, he ensures water safety standards are met and maintained.

Jason also spent over 12 years in public safety as a firefighter and EMT, achieving the rank of fire lieutenant. With over 20 professional certifications in special rescue operations, emergency medicine, and workplace safety, he works closely with all emergency services to uphold the highest standards of security and preparedness at Camp Southern Ground. His expertise in high-risk environments extends to his role as the high ropes lead, where he holds a Level 2 certification, ensuring safety and precision in overseeing the camp’s high ropes course.

Jason earned dual degrees in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia and Occupational Safety and Health, specializing in construction safety. His proactive, hands-on approach ensures a safe and well-maintained environment for staff, participants, and visitors, making Camp Southern Ground a secure and welcoming place for all.
